How to upload template images to a free image host

Monday, May 11, 2009 ·

There are a lot of alternatives, but I like imageshack.us the most, so I am going to explain uploading images to this free host. You can click on the thumbnails below to see larger versions of screen shots.

  • Extract your package to your desktop
  •
  • Upload your images to imageshack.us
  •
  • Take the link to your image from imageshack.us
  •
  • Replace filenames with your hosted image links
  1. First of all, create a folder named "template" on your desktop, then unzip your template archive package to this folder. After extracting your template files, you will see a subfolder named "images" under this folder (where you can find images of your template).
  2. Open a new browser window, and go to address imageshack.us. You will see a very simple interface with a input box and a button named "Browse" near it. Click "Browse" button and go to your desktop > template > images folder. Then pick one of the images (i.e. header.jpg), and click open. After locating the image file you want to upload, click "Host it!".
  3. After uploading process completes, you will automatically redirected to a page contains lots of different links created for your hosted image. Go to end of that page and find "Direct link to image" and copy that link to your clipboard.
  4. Go to your desktop > template folder and open theme.txt with a text editor like notepad (not MS Word or similar!). Start a search for your uploaded file name (in our case it is header.jpg). After finding it select it and replace it with the code you have copied from imageshack.us.
  5. After repeating the steps 2, 3 and 4 for each and every image of your template, save your theme.txt.
  6. Go to your Blogger dashboard and update your theme. (Help?)
